Soon to be 2018, the year of GDPR – starting points for SME’s

So, what is GDPR? In April 2016, the EU passed the General Data Protection Regulation, AKA GDPR. It will give people more control over how their personal data is being used by companies.

What does that mean for your business? For companies that do not comply there will be stricter fines for data breaches and non-compliance. Misuse of data on your company’s behalf will see you being held publicly accountable, potentially damaging your reputation. It is becoming more important than ever to be able to demonstrate data security compliance.

Sound negative? Don't worry it's not all bad! It’s great news for businesses like you that are mobile forward in your thinking. With all the EU states operating the same laws and regulations it will in fact be easier to utilize data in a secure and lawful way. This should have a positive impact by improving overall trust in the evolving digital economy.

Next steps...? Easy! You just need to comply! Your organization will need to implement strong future-proofing policies, procedures and processes to protect themselves. This should include all hardware; both desktop and mobile.
